Bondurant Barbecue

The first annual community barbecue was held on August 3, 1941, to celebrate the completion of the St. Hubert the Hunter church. Since then, the event has been held every summer - always on the last Sunday in June.

Residents, visitors, tourists... All are welcome!

We cook two full beef in a brick-lined BBQ pit for up to 20 hours, the Wild West way! All the side dishes and desserts are homemade. Come enjoy a relaxing day of wonderful food, fine music, and fun activities for the kids! There is lots of shade, but bring your own lawn chairs.

With forty years of ranching behind him, he now finds inspiration in both Hawaii and his frequent returns to Bondurant, weaving grit, humor, and heart into poetry that captures a life deeply tied to the land.
